How To Grip and Throw The Palmball
Palmball – The Palmball is another off speed pitch that can be used as a change up. To grip a palmball you want to jam the baseball all the way back deep into your palm. You should be able to hold the palmball with just your thumb and palm. Lightly let the other fingers grip on top of the baseball.
One way to execute the Palmball is to throw it like a football. It will feel as if you are pushing the baseball out of your palm with the thumb. This will create almost a knuckle ball effect and be a very slow pitch.
Another way to execute the palmball pitch is to throw it like a fastball but let it roll up and out of the thumb and pinkie without any pressure from the other 3 fingers. This can create a slow breaking pitch. It will look like a slow curve ball coming in. It won't have as much sharp break to it but the arm action will definitely fool hitters because there is not snapping of the wrist. It will look just like you are throwing a fastball.
