How To Grip and Throw a Knuckle Ball

How To Throw a Knuckle Ball - The knuckle ball is another tough pitch to master. The knuckle ball is known for dancing around and being hard to hit. It is also hard to throw strikes with this pitch because it moves so much. I don't recommend throwing this pitch unless you can consistently make this pitch move and throw it for strikes. This is a very hard feat to accomplish. However here is one way to throw the knuckle ball if you want to try it out. Grip that baseball with your thumb and pinkie. With the other 3 fingers curl them up so that your finger tips are on the baseball. I don't think it matters where you hold the baseball, it is just a comfort thing. Some people like there finger tips on the laces, others like them on the smooth surface. Play around with it and see what feels best for you. To throw this pitch you want to shorten up your arm path are create a pushing motion. At your release point you want to extend your 3 bent fingers to create even more of a pushing motion. This force directly through the baseball will create little of no spin which in turn will make the baseball dance or knuckle through the air.
