Hitting Tip - Extension vs Casting

Sometimes my baseball players get confused when I say "get extended" and they start casting. In this video, I show the difference between extension and casting in regards to baseball and hitting mechanics.

Get extended doesn't mean to swing through the zone with fully extended arms.  That would be casting.  Casting will make it hard to catch up to a good fastball and it will also cause many jam jobs where you hit the baseball off the handle of the bat.

What getting extended means is to get your arms out in front in a strong, slightly bent position.  As you'll see in the video, when my arms are extended, they are still strong and slightly bent to produce maximum hitting power.
