Hitting Drills - The Mini Wiffle Ball Drill
Mini Wiffle Ball Drill
The mini wiffle ball drill is a great drill to work on seeing the baseball and even on bat speed. There are a few ways that the wiffle ball drill can be done. I recommend using the mini wiffle balls. They are about the size of golf balls.
The way I like to do it is start by soft tossing (close and from the side) the mini wiffle balls to a hitter and have him swing at them with his bat. Then after a round of that, switch the bat with a broom handle. This makes it even harder to hit the wiffle balls.
Then have the thrower go about 20 feet in front of the batter and throw the wiffle balls in. Again the hitter should start with his bat and then finish with the broom handle. If you can hit a tiny little wiffle ball that is moving all over the place with a broom stick handle, there should be no reason that you ever strike out. Think about it that way.
