The Fence Drill

The fence drill is a good hitting drill to do if you have problems with casting your swing. Sometimes casting is refered to as sweeping. This would mean that you tend to have a long swing. The fence drill will make sure you stay short and to the ball.

How you perform the fence drill is you stand next to a fence facing it. Hold one of your arms straight out in front of you even with your shoulder. Step back to where you are is stretched out as far as it can but your fingers are still touching the fence.

Have your bat near by because you are gonna want to stay in this spot after you measure it. Grab your bat and take normal swings. If your bat is hitting the fence then you know that you are doing something wrong. Concentrate on taking a short and direct path to the baseball and try not to scrape up your bat!
