Catching Drill - The Recieving Drill
The Recieving Drill The recieving drill helps you work on your framing and recieving. To do this drill you will take off your mitt, get in your catchers stance, and have someone toss you some baseballs. What you want to focus on is recieving the baseball as you would in a game. Catch it out in front, carry it in, and frame it. This can all be done in a split second so the person throwing the baseballs can give them too you at a pretty good pace. Have them throw the baseball to any area of the plate to get you to work on all locations. To make this catching drill a little harder and to add a quick hands aspect to it, have your partner throw you 5 or 6 baseballs rapidly in a row at different locations. This will not only help you with your catching and recieving, but also with quick hands and hand eye coordination. Be sure that you don't sacrifice technique over speed. You want to be as fast as you can, but you also want to use the correct technique while performing this catching drill.
